Looking to upgrade their staid and antiquated website, phia, LLC, brought on the experts at Lounge Lizard Worldwide for a new website design that communicated their deep commitment to clients and to their “phia phamily”!
The principals started phia by offering full-spectrum cybersecurity services for the Secretary of Defense Communications Office, including network operations, high-risk travel oversight, and residence surveillance. From this successful relationship, phia expanded to providing tech services for various federal agencies and departments, including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.
Initially, their one-page informational website did the job, but after a decade of expansion and growth, it was time for a new, full-featured website. Intending to create a site showcasing their cyber-intelligence expertise while being friendly, fun, and people-oriented, phia engaged Lounge Lizard to bring their dream website forward.
Design for phia’s New Era
Lounge Lizard’s Brandtenders focused on modernizing the phia logo design, a three-sided Celtic symbol inspired by the Triquetra, and representing the three guys that formed the company. The new logo became a unifying design theme throughout the new site and was mimicked in the round images, circle shapes, and video masks; all cohesively brought together with an updated color palette.
The design team avoided typical, overused ‘high tech’ imagery and copywriting to focus instead on the company culture, the “phia phamily,” and their balanced, collaborative approach to work and their personal lives. The site highlights people solving problems in our connected world and should appeal to job seekers and top talent in the cybersecurity industry.
Site Development & SEO Built to Perform
The Lounge Lizard development team focused on optimizing the site with fast-loading graphics, shorter click pathways, and improved mobile responsiveness. The team also ensured that the entire site was 508 compliant, in line with all federal government requirements for accessibility.
Built in a custom WordPress CMS, phia’s new website was designed to make it easy for their group to update and change content as needed, with an expanded career page that made recruitment easier.
Simultaneously, Lounge Lizard’s SEO group refined phia’s keywords and targeted the text and on-page SEO to reflect those enhanced keywords throughout the copy. Their 108% increase in organic search traffic and almost 60% increase in informational search results highlight the effectiveness of Lounge Lizard’s SEO efforts.
