Southland Trailers
Simplifying a Complex Product Ecosystem for a Leading Trailer Manufacturer
Southland Trailers is a Canadian trailer manufacturer serving customers across North America. Founded in Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1980, the company has grown from a family-run operation into a major manufacturing organization with more than 550 team members across six facilities. Its portfolio spans three specialized brands, Southland Trailers, Royal Cargo, and RENN Commercial, serving industries spanning from construction and agriculture to powersports, commercial hauling, and heavy infrastructure.
With an extensive product lineup and a network of dealers across Canada and the United States, Southland needed a digital experience that made a complex catalog easier to understand and explore. Lounge Lizard was brought in to redesign the website around how customers actually research trailers, creating clearer pathways from initial product discovery to finding the right trailer and connecting with a local dealer.
Southland’s product depth is one of its greatest strengths, but it also created a significant digital UX challenge. Contractors, equipment owners, commercial operators, dealers, and other customers arrive with different levels of product knowledge and different requirements. The website needed to serve users who already knew exactly what they wanted while also helping those who needed to compare products and choose the best trailer for the job.
The objective was to reorganize Southland’s extensive product information into a more user-friendly experience while giving customers the specifications, educational resources, and tools they need to make well-informed decisions. The site also needed to strengthen the connection between digital product research and Southland’s growing North American dealer network.

Lounge Lizard restructured the digital experience around how customers research and shop for trailers, rather than forcing users to navigate Southland’s internal product structure. Streamlined information architecture, advanced product filtering, detailed specifications, product configuration pathways, and an enhanced dealer search allow visitors to explore trailers by category, brand, or intended use and move fluidly from research to an authorized Southland dealer.
The custom WordPress website was designed responsively to support Southland’s broad range of customers across devices while integrating the company’s three distinct brands within one fluid experience. A new Knowledge Hub also brings engineering insights, towing education, maintenance information, warranty resources, and product construction details into the customer journey, helping users understand not only which trailer fits their needs but what differentiates Southland-built products.
The redesigned website brings Southland’s extensive product catalog, technical information, educational resources, and dealer network together within a more streamlined digital experience. Customers can more easily compare options, understand product differences, and progress from early-stage research to purchasing support without navigating unnecessary complexity.
With more than 120 dealer locations across Canada and the United States, the new platform also creates a clearer connection between Southland’s digital presence and its physical dealer network. Its flexible WordPress foundation provides room for new products, expanded educational content, dealer growth, and the continued evolution of Southland’s three trailer brands as the company expands across North America.
