Tri-State Camp Conference

Tri-State Camp Conference is a premier annual gathering for professionals in the summer camp, after-school, and youth development sectors, bringing together educators, administrators, and industry exhibitors from around the world. Hosted by ACA, NY & NJ (American Camp Association, New York and New Jersey), Tri-State lacked a dedicated digital home and was previously residing as a lightweight page buried within a broader organizational site.

JOURNEY

Objective

Tri‑State came to us with a twofold challenge:

  1. Launch a fully-featured, standalone website from scratch, separate from the ACA, NY & NJ parent brand
  2. Serve two distinct audiences—conference attendees and exhibitors—with clarity, engagement, and optimized conversion paths. 

Additional goals included repositioning Atlantic City as an inviting and professional destination, simplifying navigation, increasing registrations and exhibitor sales, and enhancing SEO performance for key industry search terms.

Approach

Our multi-pronged strategy centered on user experience, content structure, SEO, and performance:

  • Dual-path UX: Created separate landing and navigation flows for attendees and exhibitors—each tailored to their needs and motivated with specific calls to action.
  • Immersive storytelling: Highlighted the vibrancy of both the conference and Atlantic City, avoiding stereotypes related to gambling or nightlife, and instead showcasing travel perks, accessibility, and the city-wide takeover vibe.
  • Plugin integration: Seamlessly embedded Expotracker for exhibit registration and events calendar tools—minimizing friction and disruptions in the user journey.
  • Modern design trends: Employed hyper-personalization, micro-interactions, mobile-first layouts, and SEO-first performance optimization to meet 2025 digital standards.
  • Technical stack: Built on WordPress with ActiveCollab for project coordination, custom templates, Cloudflare (for performance/security), and robust tracking setups for GA and user flow analysis.

Impact

The result was a vibrant, engaging, and highly functional website that achieved the client’s core objectives:

  • A scalable digital destination designed for two unique audiences, with clear conversion points.
  • A reframed Atlantic City narrative that elevated perceptions through curated travel content and engaging UX.
  • Embedded third-party tools (Expotracker, events calendar) that felt native and intuitive within the site’s architecture.
  • A high-energy design voice that mirrored the excitement of “camp for professionals,” without compromising on clarity or professionalism.

Results

While final analytics are pending post-launch, the site went live late July and is already showing promising early indicators (monitored via client GA access):

  • Higher form-fill volume from both attendee and exhibitor pathways.
  • Increased time-on-page, particularly around travel, sessions, and exhibitor kit content.
  • Faster load times and better mobile performance due to SEO and a speed-first strategy.
  • Improved site architecture resulting in more intuitive navigation and fewer drop-offs.
  • The conference’s digital brand has been elevated, reinforcing its status as the “ultimate camp conference”—with potential to drive increased international audience engagement and sponsorship interest.
