The American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB) is a fast-growing, private, not-for-profit institution that opened its doors in 2018. Classes began in early 2021 with three founding colleges: Arts & Sciences, International Studies, and Business. Since then, the university has added four more colleges: Pharmacy, Dentistry, Health Technologies, and Law. What makes AUIB especially unique, beyond its impressive academic growth, is its stunning campus, which includes the iconic Al-Faw Palace.

Objective

AUIB came to us with a clear mission: update their outdated NET-based website and create something that not only looked modern but also worked smarter. They needed a platform that would:

  • Highlight the breathtaking beauty of their campus.
  • Make it easier for students and visitors to find key information.
  • Give internal staff more control over content updates.
  • Improve search engine rankings and user engagement.

Approach

Our team migrated the entire website from its old .NET framework to a flexible and future-ready WordPress platform. This alone gave AUIB a significant boost in SEO and usability.

From there, we got to work on designing a more intuitive user experience:

  • We built a dynamic mega menu to help users quickly find what they need.
  • We placed captivating visuals of the campus front and center.
  • We streamlined course and registration information, making it much easier to search and explore.
  • We also added tracking pixels to give AUIB better insights into how users interact with the site.

And most importantly, we made sure that their internal team could easily update the site without needing a developer, because content should never be a bottleneck.

Impact

Right after launch, the difference was clear:

  • The website now reflects the prestige and beauty of AUIB’s campus.
  • Visitors can easily navigate to key information, from academic programs to admissions.
  • Internal staff have complete control over updating and expanding the site.
  • Thanks to thoughtful design and strategic SEO, traffic and engagement saw an immediate increase.

  • Improved SEO and visibility within weeks of launch
  • Increase of Organic Traffic by 116%
  • Higher engagement, including more pageviews and longer time on site
