Dylan Lauren pioneered creating the world’s largest confectionery emporium and lifestyle brand, Dylan’s Candy Bar. By merging the worlds of art, fashion and pop culture with candy, Dylan’s Candy Bar has innovated the way we see candy today. Dylan’s Candy Bar is located in New York City; East Hampton, New York; Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami Beach, as well as in wholesale venues around the world.

TECHNOLOGY USED: Shopify

Objective

Dylan’s Candy Bar hired Lounge Lizard to create a sweet new Shopify e-commerce Website that made people hungry for more candy, personified the instore shopping experience, increase online sales, and keep users on the site.

Approach

Our approach for Dylan’s Candy Bar leveraged our unique process. What we didn’t do was ask for the Dylan’s Candy Bar Logo and corporate brand guideline, and simply start “Designing” the new site. This would be counterintuitive to our unique process, and our need to build and craft a unique message and online brand presence. Instead the process started with several client brand strategy workshops driven by our unique questions around the “7 Second Rule” methodology and the desire to truly understand the Dylan’s Candy Bar unique history and product offerings. This included visiting several Dylan’s Candy Bar brick and mortar stores to become immersed in the end user experience. And this in-store experience was a positively overwhelming display of wall to wall eye-candy.  Dylan’s is a brand, a lifestyle. Dylan’s Candy Bar sweets, snacks, phone cases, apparel. Lounge Lizard leveraged this unique and colorful culture to craft a unique online brand presence and user engagement strategy. The vision was created to bring the remarkable in-store experience online with an overabundance of mouthwatering photography and eye-catching visual design coupled with strategic and proven ecommerce direct response copy, brand storytelling, visually appealing mega navigational menus, and online consumer prompting with “sticky” click-paths that drove purchase and lead capture. When asked “why choose Lounge Lizard?” our answer is: “The approach, that’s our brandtenders and marketing mixologists secret ingredient”.

Impact

Lounge Lizard not only delivered a creative, fun and visually yummy user experience, but optimized the user experience design and direct response strategy for an unprecedented increase in conversion rates, lower customer acquisition cost, and impressive ROI. We did this while staying true to the brand voice and story of Dylan’s Candy Bar while translating the in-store experience online.
